Bala Cynwyd, Pa., October 14, 2015 – Purolite Life Sciences introduces Praesto AC agarose-based Protein A affinity resin for Mab capture. Praesto AC addresses the need for a highly productive, cost-effective Protein A resin, specifically designed and evaluated for MAb capture steps in PI and PII production, where only a very limited numbers of cycles are run. Praesto AC exhibits excellent pressure/flow properties while delivering capacity over 30 mg/mL at 3 minutes residence time and NaOH CIP stability for up to 20 cycles. The use of Praesto AC can enhance the time and cost savings of a MAb platform process.
The addition of new ready-to-use ProcessReady columns to a platform can further magnify process efficiencies. ProcessReady columns are pre-tested and fully documented pre-packed columns. They eliminate column packing stations, facility space for packing, column packing itself – and potential column packing failures. ProcessReady columns are available in 1.6, 6.3 and 14.1L volumes, with uniform 20 cm bed heights. They are produced and packed by Atoll GmbH.
Praesto AC resins and pre-packed columns will be available end October, with ProcessReady columns following end November.
Praesto AC protein A affinity resin expands the portfolio of Praesto agarose-based products, currently comprised of strong anion and cation exchangers and plain agarose media, each available in in 45μm, 65μm and 90μm particle sizes. The addition of affinity technologies allows Praesto resins to address further large-scale downstream processing needs, from capture to final polishing. Praesto agarose resins undergo strict application and performance testing, and are manufactured in Purolite’s UK facilities.
All Praesto resins are available in various bulk pack sizes and in pre-packed formats. The 200uL RoboColumn® format fits with robotic workstations and is designed for resin screening and high-throughput process development, while 1 and 5 mL MiniChrom columns are ideal for process optimization. New ProcessReady columns are an excellent fit for efficient, ready-to-go, clinical material or small-scale production runs.
"Customers in bioprocessing have long been unhappy with the very high prices they pay for Protein A chromatography resins, especially when they are used for only a very limited number of cycles, as in the production of early-phase clinical trial material," notes Chris Major, Director of Agarose and BioProcessing. "Praesto AC addresses this issue, by providing the required capacity, CIP stability and outstanding performance properties at a lower cost and in a ready-to-use format."
